All University members within a Covered Component must complete annual HIPAA training and receive additional training regarding HIPAA procedures within their component.
PHI Workforce Members must also complete annual training on the safe handling of Protected Health Information (PHI), and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Training for Covered Components and PHI Workforce Members takes place online, is asynchronous, and will be coordinated through the Office of Compliance, Investigations, and Ethics with the assistance of Pitt IT. Employees requiring training will be notified via email.
Covered Components and PHI Workforce Member groups should notify the Office of Compliance, Investigations, and Ethics when new employees are hired so that they can receive the required training.
